Winning The Race
Linda Guy
The winner of the 2004 Olympic triathlon, was asked the secret of his success. The New Zealander replied that in the past, he had gone out to win, but time and time again missed out. This time, he went out simply to enjoy the race. He did, immensely; and won the gold medal.Linda Guy
The believer has a marathon race to run; 'let us run with patience the race that is set before us'( Hebrews 12:1) But so often we put all our effort and focus into winning. Will we have the stamina to finish? Will we fail and drop out altogether? are others doing better than us? Have we trained enough?
Jesus came to give us rest; even while we are running this race. We can rest and relax, for we have already won. Jesus has run this race for us; He has overcome every obstacle, including our weaknesses; and He has won. We run from victory; not to victory. So, by faith we enter into Christ's victory, knowing we will finish well, and win. That being so, we might as well go out this day to simply enjoy the race.
